On this day 32 years ago, the boys’ cross country team edged Rocky Point, 29-31, on their way to an undefeated League VII Championship in what Res Gestae 1983 called “the season highlight.”
Despite losing four of the top five runners from the 1981 League Championship squad, the boys won the program’s fourth consecutive league title, as well as the County Championship, thanks to the excellent running of Ray Camano and Andy Hoffman. Camano would go on to win the individual county title that season while Hoffman would snag his own in 1984.
