Yesterday Donna Liotine ’11 was named team captain of the Adelphi University women’s soccer team for the 2014 season. Last season the junior from Medford, NY, started all twenty-one games for the Panthers and helped lead them to a 14-3-4 record. Her highlight of the season was an 83rd minute game-winner in a 2-1 victory over Bentley College.

With Liotine controlling the midfield, the Panthers advanced to the Northeast-1o Conference Championship as well as the NCAA Tournament, defeating Mercy College in a 5-0 first round rout. As a result of her outstanding play she garnered multiple honors including NE-10 First Team All-Conference and NSCAA Second Team All-Region.

While at Stony Brook, Liotine led the Bears to two Long Island Championships and the only team State Championship in school history. In 2009 she was named the New York State Class C Player of the Year, was a two-time All-State selection, and made Newsday‘s All-Long Island team.

Liotine and Adelphi open the season on September 4 at home against Chestnut Hill College.
