Girls’ Soccer Routs Ross

October 3, 2011
Stiklickas (shown here vs. Southold last week) was the catalyst on both sides of the ball for the Bears

The girls’ soccer team got back on the winning side after dropping three straight games: a 2-1 decision to Smithtown Christian and losses to Babylon and Jericho in non-league tilts. This afternoon the Bears traveled to the Ross School and buried the Cosmos, 4-0, behind the outstanding play of Mikaela Stiklickas. The junior goalkeeper recorded a first half shutout before adding a goal and an assist in the second half as she left the posts to give Daija Rubino some experience. The freshman finished off the clean sheet with three saves. The win improved the Bears’ record to 3-1 as they remained at second place in League VIII behind undefeated Port Jefferson.

The Bears will face the 5-0 Royals on Fitch Field tomorrow afternoon @ 4:00pm in a rematch of last year’s thrilling County Championship which the Brook won, 1-0, in overtime.

Box Score

Mikaela Stiklickas1 goal/1 assist/2 saves
Gianna Scavo1 goal/1 assist
Morgan Pius1 goal
Rachel King1 goal
Emily Pius1 assist
Madison Rylands1 assist
Daija Rubino3 saves
