Golf Team Grounds Eagles

Abrahamsen competes in a match last fall

A good walk went unspoiled this afternoon for the golf team as they downed Rocky Point, 6.5-2.5. However, the Rolling Oaks Country Club course was as much a challenge for the Bears as the Eagles. The course is notoriously poorly maintained and the yardages were incorrect leading to some difficult situations for our golfers. On one particular hole, captain Tyler Abrahamsen stroked a beautiful shot from what he thought was 100 yards; however, due to the faulty yardages his ball ended up ten yards over the green in the fescue.

Abrahamsen recovered from that shot, a tee shot that bounced behind a tree, and five lipped-out putts to shoot a 7-over 39 and best his opponent. Ben Pirro registered a 40 and beat his man while Tim Zheng halved his match with his counterpart, overcoming a 12 on one hole. The Bears also out-stroked the Pointers by a narrow 213-217 to even their overall record at 1-1.
