
The 2011 Penn Relays, the 117th annual since 1895, begin this morning in Philadelphia. This year our boys 4×100 meter and 4×400 meter relay teams will continue the great Stony Brook tradition of running in the world’s premier relay carnival as part of 3,241 relay teams from 1,027 different high schools. The 4×100 team of Khoren Lawson, Jon Wentling, Andrew White, and Taylor Colucci will compete Friday morning with the first heats going off at 10:40am.
The 4×400 relay team of Marco Masakayan, Lawson, Wentling, and Colucci will run on Saturday morning at 10:55am against a field at once foreign and familiar. They will compete against schools from four states outside of New York alongside three other Long Island schools:

The 4×400 meter relay team will look to rewrite some milestones from teams past:
- Last time a team medaled: 2005 (3rd)
- Last time a team won: 2004 (Justin Song, Louis Gabel, Dan Hickey & Christian Francis)
- Last time a team ran under 3:30: 1988 (3:27.2)
- Last time an individual ran a sub-51 second leg: 2002 (Will Lingle, 50.7)
