After squandering a 5-2 lead in the bottom of the 7th in yesterday’s loss to Mattituck, the softball team shook off the disappointing result to earn their first victory of the season in a thriller vs. Southampton. With the game tied at 1-1 in the bottom of the 7th inning, freshman Alissa Antieri placed a perfect bunt down the line to move ahead the runners at first and second.

The Mariners were unable to make a play on the ball as Antieri’s clutch hit loaded the bases with one out. With a victory just 60 feet away, Michelle Hennessy dug into the batter’s box and delivered a line drive single to win the game, 2-1, in walk-off fashion.
