
Thomas Payne ’08 of the United States Naval Academy repeated as the NCBA National Champion in the 119-pound division yesterday at West Point’s Eisenhower Hall in a unanimous decision. His opponent during the 3three-round bout was the Air Force Academy’s Matt DeMars, the Falcons’ senior captain and the two-time defending National Champion at 112 pounds. The victory came on the heels of Payne’s second consecutive Naval Academy Brigade Championship.
Payne joins an elite class of Stony Brook alums who have become collegiate National Champions:
