The Blue and White | Towlen (3rd from left), Clary (5th from left) & Strong (2nd from right)

On this day 57 years ago, the wrestling team won its first of nine Ivy League Championships by a single point. The regular season ended with a three-way tie between Stony Brook, Trinity, and Poly Prep atop the league, but in the inaugural year of the championship it was the Blue and White who emerged the victors in the difficult field to bring the trophy home. Dick Towlen, Bill Strong, and John Clary earned individual Ivy League crowns.
