Rod Odom ’09 was a perfect 3-for-3 from behind the arc in Vanderbilt University’s 78-60 win over South Carolina yesterday. Odom’s trifectas helped the Commodores, ranked 24th nationally in Division I, even their SEC record at 4-4 and improve to 16-6 overall.
In his 18 minutes the 6’9″ freshman contributed 9 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. Said Odom after the game, “I just try to go out and play hard on defense and get offensive rebounds and just hit open shots when I can.”
Vanderbilt led 30-23 at halftime for its first halftime lead in SEC play since Jan. 15, when the Commodores were up 30-20 at Tennessee. Rod Odom hit a 3 just before the buzzer for the biggest lead of the half for either team. Odom hit all three of his 3s for his nine points.
“That was real big,” [Head coach Kevin] Stallings said.

I thought they played huge today, but it’s kind of something we need to expect from them. They’re great players and they help us big time off the bench. You’re talking about two guys that really work hard outside of practice. Rod and Kyle are always trying to get shots up and they deserve this kind of performance.
