Mitch Singer and the Bears were highlighted in Newsday

On this day four years ago, the boys’ basketball team pummeled Bridgehampton at their infamously miniature gymnasium, 75-43, to improve to 8-1 in League VIII. The game was close early as the Killer Bees led 9-7, but an offensive rebound and score by Peter Carmel set off an incredible 34-4 run. The Blue and White scoring barrage, coupled with 12 consecutive missed shots by Bridgehampton to begin the second frame, helped decide the outcome long before the game was over.

It was the most lopsided home loss for Bridgehampton’s Carl Johnson in his sixteen years of coaching. Carmel finished with a game high 21 points and 15 rebounds. Mitch Singer added 15 in his first victory at our east end rival.
