Burke, Istrati & Winston Lead Charge over Cosmos

The girls basketball team turned in a solid performance vs. the Ross School this afternoon, sending the Cosmos home with a 56-31 defeat.  The senior trio of Brannon Burke, Natalie Istrati and Jess Winston combined for 50 of the team’s 56 points in the victory.  Burke led all scorers with 24 points to go along with 6 rebounds, Istrati continued to be a double-double machine with 16 points and 15 rebounds and Winston scored 10 while adding 5 assists.  The Bears got out of the gates quick as they built a 14-4 lead that they never relinquished.  With the victory the girls improve to 4-1 in League VIII and currently stand in 2nd place behind Pierson.

Brannon Burke is currently 20th on Long Island and 13th in Suffolk County in points per game with 17.  She is also 14th on Long Island and 5th in Suffolk County in rebounds per game with 7.1… Natalie Istrati is 16th in Suffolk County in points per game with 16.4.  She is also 6th on Long Island and 3rd in Suffolk County in rebounds per game with 10.6… Jess Winston is 9th on Long Island and 4th in Suffolk County in assists per game with 3.6.  She is also 10th in Suffolk County in 3-pointers with 21.
