If you don’t know Farqu Taylor–wait, that’s impossible, everyone knows Farqu Taylor.  His passion and enthusiasm are infectious and whether he is on the football field or the basketball court he makes his presence known.  This season as a captain for the boys basketball team he hopes to lead a veteran squad to a place they have never been before.

>>What is your favorite memory from your SBS athletic career?
My favorite memory from my time here as an SB athlete has to be beating long-time rival Greenport last year.  Ever since my JV basketball year I felt it was my duty to play hard 24/7, and last year it paid off.  I scored 11 points while recieving the game ball and an intervew from The Suffolk Times.  Although the game wasn’t recorded, it still continues to repeat in my head every time I step on the floor.

>>What team do you like beating the most?
The Ross School has a couple of players that talk trash EVERY SINGLE YEAR and I just enjoy shutting them down EVERY SINGLE YEAR!

>>What 3 words would you use to describe your play on the court?
Tough.  Determined.  Poised.

>>Do you have any interesting pre-game rituals?
One of my favorite players takes time and reflects on what he did in the game before while dribbling during his warm-up. I try my very best to model my game after him and I find myself doing exactly what he does.

>>As a captain, what do you hope to provide for the team this year?
This year as captain I hope bring my experience and my love for the sport of basketball to the team.

>>What is one thing we should know about you but don’t already?
One thing that a lot of people don’t know about me is that I’m very shy.  I know it’s hard to believe, but it’s very true.  I can’t give public speeches even if my life depended on it.

>>What is your jam right now?
I’m actually jamming to a few songs right now.  One of the songs I listen to is, “Hard in the Paint” by Waka Flocka and another is, “Man It Feels Good to Be a Taylor” by Wiz Khalifa.

>>If you could hang out with anyone, past or present, who would you choose?
If I was to choose anyone to hang out with, it would have to be my boy Jovan George.  I can go to him for anything.

>>When you’re not ballin’ what is your favorite thing to do?
When I’m not destroying on the court I take time to help others around me.  This year more then ever, I’ve been reaching out to any and everyone in need of support because I know how tough things can be at times.

>>How far are you boys going this year?
All the way (States)!  We have a squad that I feel cannot be beat due to the fact that we are confident and we know what we are capable of doing.  We have come a long way from where we were 2 years ago and I have a feeling that this will be the year that school history will be made.
