The boys’ soccer team enjoyed an upset of Class AA West Babylon last night on Fitch Field by a gaudy 5-1 margin. The playoff-bound Eagles came into the match with a 4-3-1 record and a 4th place standing in League IV, but were dominated by the Bears on both sides of the ball.
Anuraag Sah got the scoring started with a patented run down the left sideline, eventually finishing the play by tucking in a beautiful strike on the near post. Khoren Lawson followed with a lefty blast that gave the Brook a 2-0 cushion. Lukas Alijosius added a third goal for the Brook on one of his familiar hustle plays to give the Blue and White a 3-0 halftime edge. Lawson continued a memorable night in the second half by blasting a shot that ricocheted off of the keeper and in, followed by a savvy play in which he continued to play while his defender stopped, thinking he had heard a whistle, as Lawson slipped in another tally for his first career hat trick.
Jon Wentling and Tyler Anderson again sparkled in the backfield while netminder Wes Woodley had a solid performance in net, highlighted by a diving save on a headed shot. MSG Varsity was on campus to film the game, and the boys treated them to a fine performance. This should give the Bears some momentum going into an important tilt tomorrow @ Pierson at 4:30pm.
