One year removed from a disappointing ’65 campaign, the Blue and White opened the season against Cold Spring Harbor. The Brook triumphed 27-7 and went on to finish 6-2 on the season, giving them third place in the Ivy League. Here is the game description from the December 1966 Stony Brook Bulletin:
Against Cold Spring Harbor High School, Coach [O. Floyd] Johnson’s shock troops revealed a new weapon–a cannonade from quarterback Mike Welton to end Rob Marvin–good for two touchdowns. Halfback Ray Yu scampered for two more, and the Brook won 27-7.
