Big Week Ahead for the Bears

The boys soccer team hopes to take League VIII by storm this week

The opening week of fall competition was a successful one as many of our teams performed well against non-league foes.  This week the Bears begin league competition vs. familiar enemies.

Boys’ Cross Country

  • Tuesday, Sept. 21 vs. Southold @ Indian Island (4:30pm) – The harriers will get their first look at their main competition for the Class D County Championship.

Girls’ Cross Country

  • Tuesday, Sept. 21 vs. Southold @ Indian Island (4:30pm) – Our girls hope to begin their dual meet season by showing their heels to the Settlers.

  • Monday, Sept. 20 @ Hampton Bays (6:30pm) – The Bears will continue a lightning-interrupted game from Friday, down 7-0 in the first quarter.
  • Friday, Sept. 24 vs. Southampton (7:30pm) – The Blue and White will take on the #9 Mariners in their home opener. In the words of Coach Kris Ryan, “There’s nothin’ like football under the lights!”

  • Thursday, Sept. 23 @ Mt. Sinai (3:30pm) – The Bears hope to win their first league match of the season vs. the Mustangs.
  • Friday, Sept. 24 @ Bellport (3:30pm) – The Brook hopes to gain experience in this non-league tilt.

Boys’ Soccer

  • Monday, Sept. 20 @ Port Jeff (4:00pm) – The Bears will try to change the recent trend vs. the Royals as they open league play.
  • Wednesday, Sept. 22 @ Southold (4:30pm) – The Settlers have been our biggest rivals in boys’ soccer over the last decade and the Blue and White hopes to get back to their winning ways against them.
  • Friday, Sept. 24 vs. Smithtown Christian (4:00pm) – The Bears finish the week with another big game and will attempt to avenge last year’s two defeats at the hands of the Crusaders.

Girls’ Soccer

  • Monday, Sept. 20 vs. Half Hollow Hills East (4:00pm) – In a non-league matchup, the girls will take on a Class AA foe as a final tune-up before the league season begins.
  • Tuesday, Sept. 21| @ Pierson/Bridgehampton (4:30pm) – The girls open their league season against the team they have defeated in the last two County Championships.
  • Thursday, Sept. 23 vs. Southold/Greenport (3:45pm) – With everything the girls accomplished last year, they still fell to Southold twice. It is time to right that wrong.
  • Saturday, Sept. 25 vs. Smithtown Christian (10:00am) – Both matches between these teams last year were battles, including a 4-4 tie in Smithtown. The girls will try to take down last year’s Class D State Semifinalist.

Girls’ Tennis

  • Monday, Sept. 20 @ Sachem East (4:30pm) – The top two teams in League VI will attempt to wrest control from the other. Both Sachem (3-0) and Stony Brook (2-0) are undefeated.
  • Wednesday, Sept. 22 vs. Comsewogue (4:00pm) – The Brook hosts the Warriors. Any win against Comsewogue is a beautiful thing.
  • Friday, Sept. 24 @ Sachem North (4:30pm) – The Bears finish an important week against the other half of the Sachem school district. North stands at 1-2.

  • Monday, Sept. 20 vs. Pierson/Bridgehampton (4:30pm) This is a rematch of last year’s thrilling Class C semifinal in which the Bears triumphed. They will try to begin their league season on the right foot.
  • Thursday, Sept. 23 @ The Ross School (4:30pm) – The Brook looks to triumph in this showdown between private schools.
