Kipkoech is NYSAIS #1 in Two Events

Nine Bear times and distances are currently within the top 10 of the most updated NYSAIS leaderboard, including Duncan Kipkoech’s #1 slot in the 1600 and the 3200.

The Kenyan senior currently leads all independent school runners in New York in the 1600 with his 4:31.0 mark. He also owns the top slot in the 3200 with a time of 9:47.52. In addition, he is ranked 6th in the 800 at 2:03.91. Other top 10 ranks for the boys include John Duggal’s 4:42.43 in the 1600 (9th) and the 4 x 400 relay team’s 4th place rank at 3:42.53.

On the girls’ side, Janelle Mikisa’s 4-10 in the high jump is tied for 2nd in NYSAIS. In addition, Maya Venkatesh is 5th in the discus (74-10), Evelyn Apazidis is 7th in the 2000 steeplechase (8:23.26), and Inemesit Usoro is 10th in the shot put (24-9).

The Bears will have a chance to climb the NYSAIS rankings this afternoon when they host the 34th Annual PSAA Championships on the Marvin W. Goldberg Track.
