Yesterday morning, Emmanuel Ajewole ’20 was named the Centennial Conference Player of the Week for Gettysburg College following a torrid hitting stretch that helped the Bullets go 4-0 last week with wins over Stevenson, Mount Alyosius, Penn State Berks, and Gwynedd Mercy.
The former Bear went 7-for-9 at the plate during the four-game surge for a .778 batting average, driving in 7 RBIs while scoring 5 runs. He also walked twice and was hit by a pitch 3 times for a .750 on-base percentage on the week. He registered a 1.639 OPS (On-base Plus Slugging) and was 4-for-4 in stolen-base attempts.
The senior is batting .438 on the season with a 1.156 OPS to go along with 7 hits, 9 RBIs, 8 runs, 7 walks, and a .656 on-base percentage.
In his time at SBS, Ajewole was part of the Bears’ baseball resurgence, helping to lead the team to its first playoff berth in 19 years in 2018. He then played a key role during the undefeated PSAA Championship season of 2019. His 3 RBIs in the championship vs. Portledge helped power the Bears to a 10-0 win.
Ajewole and the Bullets are back on the diamond on Saturday in a doubleheader at Ursinus.
