Over the weekend, Tyler Smith ’21 turned his bat into a stick of dynamite to propel Saint Peter’s University to a pair of victories.
On Saturday, the junior came up to bat with two outs in the top of the 9th and the Peacocks deadlocked at 12-12 with Norfolk State University. On the first pitch he saw, he sent the ball over the wall in left-center for a grand slam and a 16-12 lead in an eventual 16-14 win for the visitors
On Sunday, Smith continued his power streak with a solo home run in the top of the 2nd inning that halved Norfolk’s lead to 2-1. Smith finished 3-for-4 on the day with 2 runs and an RBI in a 9-6 comeback win.
Smith and Saint Peter’s are back in action on Friday in a match-up at the University of San Francisco.
