On Saturday afternoon, the girls’ swim team edged Poly Prep in a thrilling 75-71 victory at the Brooklyn Sports Club, despite traveling with just six swimmers.

Traveling with a thin squad meant the Bears had to forfeit several races to the Blue Devils, but the Bears prevailed despite the monumental challenge. Their effort was buoyed by six individual victories from Naomi Crane (50 free/25.82 & 500 free/5:49.19), Kaitlyn Tse (100 butterfly/1:01.74 & 100 breaststroke/1:12.36), Honora Riley (200 free/2:40.08), and Scarlett Wigington (200 IM/2:26.98).

The Bears also won two of the three relays as Wigington, Tse, Crane, and Amy Wu formed a winning quartet in the 200 medley (2:01.93), and Tse, Wigington, Sisi Zhang, and Crane took top honors in the 200 free (1:51.84).

The boys’ team fell 72-83 as Sam Specht won the 500 free in 5:17.80, then joined Andrew Burke, Will Tao, and James Wigington to win the 400 free relay in 4:02.96.

The Bears now look ahead to the NYSAIS and Easterns Championships over the next few weeks.
