Yesterday evening, the girls’ basketball team improved to 5-0 in PSAA play with a 74-8 trouncing of Waldorf at Island Garden.

The Bears stormed out of the gates with a 19-2 opening frame that preceded a 22-2 second quarter that gave The Brook a 41-4 halftime lead. The Bears didn’t let up in a 19-1 third period on the way to the lopsided win.

Meaghan Doherty led all scorers with 26, including a season-high 6 three-pointers that upped her Long Island-leading total to 48. She added 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Cassandra Rohan recorded her 12th double-double of the season with 12 points and 13 rebounds to go along with 3 assists. Payton Martin matched her season-high with 12 points and notched 7 rebounds and 2 assists. Abby Smith was the fourth Bear to singlehandedly outscore Waldorf with 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists.

Quinn Davey (5 pts, 2 reb, 1 ast), Emma Cohen (4 pts, 3 reb, 1 ast), Scarlett Davey (3 pts, 1 reb, 1 ast), and Mairead Retizel (2 pts, 3 reb) rounded out the Bears’ performance.

The Blue & White are back in action on Friday evening in a huge match-up with Portledge, who is also undefeated in PSAA play. First place in the league will be up for grabs in Swanson tomorrow night.
