Just a few weeks removed from their last match-up, the girls’ basketball team once again handed Solomon Schechter a lopsided loss on Monday evening at Island Garden. The 61-26 win upped their Bears’ record to 6-0, including a 4-0 start in PSAA play. They have an average margin of victory of 48.5 points.
The Bears employed their patented quick start to take control early with a 23-4 opening frame. A 9-7 second frame gave The Brook a 32-11 lead at the half before a 21-2 third period put the game away.
Meaghan Doherty led the Bears with 17 points, adding 6 steals and 3 assists. She is currently fourth among Long Island private school scorers at 20.0 points per game and leads all of Long Island with 17 three-pointers.
Cassandra Rohan recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 12 points and 11 rebounds to go along with 2 assists. Abby Smith scored a season-high 12 points with 6 assists and 2 rebounds.
