Yesterday evening, the girls’ basketball team faced their first non-conference test of the season and came through with flying colors in a 51-15 victory at East Hampton.
The Bears wasted little time in seizing control of the game as they built a 22-2 lead after the first eight minutes behind their aggressive defense and multi-pronged offensive attack. The lead grew to 32-6 at halftime before a 13-4 third frame put the game away.
Cassandra Rohan led all scorers with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Jocelyn McCrain (10 pts, 3 reb, 3 ast), Meaghan Doherty (9 pts, 6 reb, 4 ast), Abby Smith (8 pts, 3 reb, 2 ast), Mairead Reitzel (4 pts, 3 reb), Quinn Davey (2 pts, 4 reb, 2 ast), Scarlett Davey (2 pts, 1 reb, 1 ast), and Soraya Carrano (2 pts, 2 reb, 3 ast) created a pick-your-poison conundrum for the Bonackers as the Bears improved to 3-0 on the season.
On the defensive side, no East Hampton player scored more than 5 points, and the Bears held their hosts without a 3-point field goal.
The Brook is back in action tomorrow afternoon when they host Kew-Forest for a league match-up.
