On Saturday afternoon, Duncan Kipkoech ran the fastest SBS time at Sunken Meadow State Park in over 20 years in an impressive showing at the Suffolk Officials Invitational.

The senior from Kenya took 4th place in the Varsity A race in a time of 17:50, the Bears’ fastest at Sunken Meadow since Dan Hickey ran 17:40 in the 2002 State Championship. Additionally, Kipkoech’s 17:50 ranks him 11th in NYSAIS, though course difficulty can vary greatly, and Sunken Meadow, with Snake Hill and Cardiac Hill, is one of the toughest courses in the Northeast.

John Duggal (28th/19:17), Troy Meng (30th/19:25), David Guo (94th/22:18), and Clinton Kilroy (114th/22:49) also scored for the Bears, who took 8th place in the 20-team field.

Sophia Dabbraccio was the top finisher on the girls’ side, taking 45th place in a time of 23:47.
