On Saturday, the dinghy sail team got back to their winning ways following a historic spring season with a victory in the NYISA-SE Warm Up Regatta on Port Jefferson Harbor.
The morning began with a delay as the fleet waited for the wind to pick up, but by 10:50am, a four to five-knot wind out of the North-Northeast filled the sails for 10 total races across two divisions.
Gavin Hudson and Gisele Brandao sailed to the top of Division A with four 1st place finishes and one 2nd place finish in their five races for a total of six points. In Division B, Mauro Gonzalez and Joshua Henson took first place in each of their five races for five points. The 11 combined points between the two divisions gave the Bears the top overall rank ahead of Mamaroneck 1 (20), Mamaroneck 2 (29), Bay Shore 1 (42), and Bay Shore 2 (48).
The Bears are back on the water on September 30 in the NYISA-SE Team Race Championship.
