On Sunday, athletes from our dinghy sail team were invited to the Connecticut State Championship as exhibition participants and proved their mettle against the best of the best from the Constitution State. The wind held steady with an Easterly breeze running at 10-15 knots, but rough conditions on Long Island Sound prompted race officials to set the course up in a protected area of Black Rock Harbor.
Steven Hardee and Sean Beaver piloted their Z420 to four top-five finishes over their seven races to rack up 37 points and a 6th place finish. In Division B, Gavin Hudson and Sebastian Hell tied for 1st with the Hotchkiss School after six runner-ups and a 4th place finish in their seven races. The combined 53 points gave the Brook a 2nd place overall finish in the 12-vessel field.
