The ’96 Bears

On this day 22 years ago, the football team topped Port Jeff in the 3rd Annual Harbor Classic, 14-6, to improve to 2-0-1 in the series.

Redell Armstrong set the tone for the Bears, recovering a fumble on the opening kickoff that paved the way for a five-yard touchdown plunge by Barrett Nixon with 8:58 left in the first quarter. Matt Dorn set up the second score with a blocked punt. Two plays later Derek Kenney hit Charlie Hanchett with a 25-yard touchdown pass.
