The ’87 softball squad

On this day 31 years ago, the softball team came back to win a thriller vs. Greenport, 17-13.

The Bears trailed 1-8 early, remained behind by a 3-10 deficit, then closed to within 10-13 before a seven-run outburst in the 7th inning gave them the come-from-behind win. Bernadette Storey sent the tying and eventual game-winning runs across the plate with a two-run single. Laura Cannata connected on a home run in the game and Christine Very was the winning pitcher.
