This afternoon, the boys’ and girls’ badminton teams each topped Lindenhurst, 6-3, furthering their historic seasons. With the win the boys improved to 6-1 overall, their best start in program history, and 4-0 in League II to stand alone atop the standings. The girls improved to 5-2 overall, to extend the best start in their history, and are 3-1 in League II.

On the girls’ side, Masha Volovaya (11-10, 11-4), Elena Chen (7-11, 11-9, 11-9), and Nancy Man (11-6, 11-8) won their singles matches while Melody Li and Leslie Kang (15-13, 15-8), Ariel Wang and Sophie Cai (15-11, 15-10), and Rosemary Wu and Grace Wang (15-11, 15-9) nailed down their doubles matches to complete the victory.

The outstanding singles play continued on the boys’ side as Jerry Liu (17-14, 15-8), Tony Yu (15-11, 15-8), Kevin Zhang (15-10, 15-4), and Ulysses Zhang (15-6, 15-8) won four of the five matches. Sam Han and Sam Wong (15-10, 12-15, 15-13) and Ben Sray and Bob Wu (16-17, 15-12, 15-9) each won their doubles matches to provide the final margin.

The Bears are back in action tomorrow afternoon at Walt Whitman to complete the first run through the league.
