On this day 41 years ago, Don Lockerbie ’75 won the 1,000 yard run in North Carolina’s 74-52 dual meet win over William & Mary in the Tin Can.

The former Brooker took top honors with a time of 2:13.6, then joined forces with Willie Southerland, Chris Cox, and Sam Brown to win the mile relay in 3:25.7.

Lockerbie would go on to win a silver medal in the 1,000 at the ACC Indoor Championships before becoming an ACC Champion later that spring in the 880 yard run (1:53.1).
