On this day 42 years ago, Don Lockerbie ’75 came back from an injury to win the 1,000 yard run in an invitational at the University of North Carolina’s famous Tin Can.

The former Brooker paced the field in 2:16.8, adding key points to UNC’s 69.5 total which helped the Tar Heels reign over rival N. C. State (61). South Carolina, Furman, and North Carolina Central were well back of the field.
