
On this day 50 years ago, the basketball team rode Harold Spooner’s 25 points to a 70-62, comeback victory over St. Paul’s.
The Brookers trailed 48-51 heading into the fourth quarter, but coach Karl Soderstrum switched up defenses while Spooner and Rich Shimko took over offensively to lead the Blue and White to victory. The duo combined for 11 points over the final 3:45 to seal the win.
Shimko finished with 16 points while Roy Hodson added 11 and captain Robert Barclay chipped in 9.
