
Yesterday afternoon, the girls’ soccer team improved to 5-4 in the league with a 3-2 overtime victory at Mercy.
Jessica Nwachukwu got the scoring started in the 4th minute for the Brook thanks to an assist from Beth Felix off of a corner kick. Mercy knotted the game in the 25th minute and the two squads headed into the half tied at 1-1. Dahlia Cyrille put the Brook ahead in the 4th minute of the second half, courtesy of an Nwachukwu assist, but Mercy equalized less than ten minutes later, ushering in a 26-minute deadlock that sent the Bears and Monarchs into overtime.
In the 3rd minute of the first of two overtime periods, Nwachukwu struck again off of a Beth Felix corner kick to provide the Blue and White with the winning margin.
Sophia DiLavore recorded 6 saves in goal for the Brook.
With the win, the Bears improve to 4-1 against Class C competition in their mixed classification league.
