This afternoon, the boys’ tennis team topped John Glenn in the opening round of the Suffolk County playoffs. In their first postseason match since 2015, the Bears topped the Knights, 4-3, in a gritty effort.

John Wei (6-3, 6-3) cruised at second singles while Jim Li (6-3, 7-5) gutted out a thrilling second set to earn his win at third singles. On the doubles side, Brandon Gicquel and Thomas Lawton (7-5, 6-3) continued their stellar play that earned them the #2 seed in the Division III tournament while and Harry Ou and Sam Hou (7-5, 7-5) edged the Knights in a closely contested match. Ou’s four aces punctuated the win.

The Bears move on the face second-seeded Ward Melville next Tuesday.
