On Saturday, Shane Kelly ’11 and his Malone Rugby Football Club defeated County Tipperary’s Cashel Rugby Club, 45-15, to earn the fourth seed in the Ulster Bank Rugby Playoffs.

A series of penalties gave Cashel an early 3-0 lead, but three tries from Malone gave the home team a commanding 21-3 halftime edge en route to the lopsided victory. Kelly’s work at half back earned him a nominee for Man of the Match in Stephen Barbour’s match report.

Malone will face off against County Cork’s Dolphin Rugby Club in the promotion playoffs on Saturday.
