Yesterday afternoon, the boys’ tennis team improved to 2-0 on the season with a dominant 5-2 non-league victory over Sayville, despite battling a wind chill factor of 19 degrees.

A biting wind raged all afternoon, sending 30 mph gusts tearing across the courts, but it was the Bears who were the fiercest thing on the hardcourt yesterday. Steven Ou (6-0, 6-2) made quick work of his first singles opponent, Brandon Gicquel (6-1, 6-1) was unstoppable at second singles, and Jim Li (6-2, 6-0) controlled fourth singles.

On the doubles side, Hyun Cho and Wensan Yin (6-0, 3-6, 7-5) won a hard-fought battle at second doubles while Ben Tom and Alan Wang (7-5, 6-2) closed off the Golden Flashes at third singles.

The Bears are back at it today for their third match in as many days in a league tilt with Miller Place.
