This morning, Jyles Etienne capped off a memorable weekend by winning the USATF Hershey Youth Indoor National Championship at the Ocean Breeze Track and Field Facility on Staten Island.

One day after helping to lead the boys’ basketball team to its first Regional Championship with a 13-point, 12-rebound, 6-block performance, the Indiana University-bound senior jumped 6′ 8.75″ to claim the title over 17 other jumpers. The mark eclipsed the meet record of 6′ 6.75″ set in 2011. The next best jumper in the field cleared 6′ 2.75″.

Before Etienne sets his sights on the outdoor season, he will lead the boys’ basketball team to Binghamton next weekend for the first New York State Final Four game in program history.
