  • WHAT: New York State Class C Boys Basketball Regional Final/State Quarterfinal
  • WHEN: Saturday, 2:30pm
  • WHERE: Suffolk County Community College, Selden

WHAT’S AT STAKE: The winner will go to the NYS Class C Final Four March 17 and 18 in Binghamton. Millbrook or Stony Brook will play a semifinal game on Friday, March 17, at 3:30pm. at Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena against the winner of Cooperstown and Moravia. The state title game is Saturday, March 18, at 7:00pm.

MILLBROOK PLAYERS TO WATCH: Guard Humberto Cabrera; Guard Shane Sinon; Wing Patrick Kyle; Wing Drew Jackson

STONY BROOK PLAYERS TO WATCH: Forward Mac Bohuny; Guard Emil Vaughn; Forward Jyles Etienne

THE SKINNY: Interesting matchup. Millbrook is young, with only two seniors, while Stony Brook is one of the most experienced teams in Suffolk, with five straight Class C titles. Cabrera is just a flat-out scorer who can deliver the three-ball or drive inside. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Vaughn, Stony Brook’s best perimeter defender, to be on Cabrera for a good portion of the game. The problem there is, Millbrook also has Sinon and Kyle who are deadly from the outside. The Blazers will have a problem with Stony Brook’s size. Bohuny had 19 points and 12 boards in a sectional-clinching win over Greenport, and Etienne had 13 rebounds and five blocked shots in the same game.

PREDICTION: Millbrook 65, Stony Brook 61
