Last Thursday, the boys’ swim team cruised to 11 season best performances at the League II Championships held at Hauppauge High School.

Freshman Hunter Markowitz came away with two medals, a silver in the 100 free (52.00) and a bronze in the 50 free (23.58) after season best performances in each race. Markowitz earned All-League nods in both events as well as an invitation to the Suffolk County Championships by virtue of his finishes.

The relay teams also had noteworthy performances. In the 200 free relay, John Zhou, Konstantin Asam, Kevin Zhang, and Leo Hsu medaled with a top six performance, swimming to a season-best time of 1:49.56. In the 400 free relay, Asam, Henry Bi, Marcus Calero, and Markowitz swam to a season-best time of 3:54.99, missing the Suffolk County Championship qualifying time by a mere .30 seconds.

The future is bright for Stony Brook swimming thanks to the work of head coach Marc Danin and the dedication of his student-athletes.
