On Saturday, Indiana University-bound senior, Jyles Etienne, won the open high jump at the Bahamas Association of Athletic Associations (BAAA) Odd Distance Meet, soaring above 6′ 9″ to take the title.
In his first competition since July, Etienne looked strong. He deferred until 6′ 3″, clearing 6′ 3″ and 6′ 6″ without incident, before needing three attempts to top 6′ 9″. With the medal in hand, he was unable to clear 7′ 0″ despite several promising attempts.
