Yesterday afternoon, the boys’ varsity soccer team closed the regular season with a 5-1 drubbing at Port Jefferson to finish the league season with a 9-4 record, tied for the most league victories since the 2004 team won 11 games and claimed the League Championship.
The Bears jumped on the royals from the outset, building a 4-0 lead by halftime that all but put the game away after 40 minutes. Owen Sobel led the way with a pair of goals and an assist while David Choi added two goals of his own. Jai Narain scored the other goal for his seventh on the season and added an assist. Caleb Lindo, the engine for the Blue and White, notched two assists while Haban Weon added an assist.
The Bears will find out tonight whether Southold has successfully gained entry into the Suffolk Class C tournament through an appeal, giving the Bears a home playoff game next Wednesday, or whether they will meet Pierson in the Suffolk County Championship one week from Saturday.
