On this day 22 years ago, the boys’ cross country team swept Pierson in a dual meet at Indian Island.

Luke Conti, Jonathan Higgs, and Andrew Slutsky all ran together and tied for first place at 19:04 while Seth Steed (4th/19:20) and Toby Carlson (5th/19:43) rounded out the scoring for the Bears. The Brook actually took the top seven spots against the Whalers as Rob Coane (6th/20:17) and Michael Sangirardi (7th/20:18) also finished ahead of Pierson’s top runner.

The Bears would go on to win an undefeated League VIII Championship that season.
