The volleyball team earned its first win over Mercy since 2014 with a 3-2 victory in Riverhead yesterday afternoon.

The Bears and Monarchs split the first four sets as the Bears took the opener (25-18), dropped the second (22-25), retook the lead in the third (25-19), but lost the fourth (18-25) to send the match to a winner-take-all fifth set.

In the pivotal game, the Brook won decisively, 25-17, to improve to 2-1 in League VIII.

Lois Ezi led the Bears with 11 aces and 4 blocks.
