
On Friday, the girls’ tennis team earned its first victory of the season in a 5-2 win at Port Jeff. Sadhana Sridhar continued her winning streak in singles matches, dating back to her seventh-grade year, by dispatching her 1st singles opponent 6-2, 6-0. Olivia Braat won a hard fought 3rd singles match that ended with a super tiebreaker to decide the match in the waning light. After winning her first set 6-3, Braat dropped the second, 6-7, before taking the super tiebreaker, 10-5. The 1st doubles pairing of Sally Park and Tina Luo cruised by a score of 6-2, 6-3. Two forfeits at 4th singles and 3rd doubles rounded out the score for the Bears.
Yesterday afternoon, the Blue and White protected the Cave with a 5-2 victory over Mt. Sinai. All the singles ladies earned victories as Sridhar tamed her Mustang opponent at 1st singles, 6-0, 6-3, Julia Braat took 2nd singles, 7-6, 6-4, Olivia Braat won 3rd singles, 6-0, 4-6, 6-1, and Marta Bennett finished the sweep at 4th singles, 6-0, 6-0. The 1st doubles tandem of Park and Luo played into near darkness after splitting the first two sets, finally taking the 3rd set, 7-5.
The Bears are back on the home courts this afternoon for a 4:30pm match-up with Port Jeff.
