Bears Roar at Copaigue Invite

On Monday afternoon at Copaigue’s Chris Urban & Brittany Walsh Invitational, several Bears turned in fine performances in their last tune-up before the Division Championships.

Jyles Etienne added yet another championship to his growing list of titles by winning the high jump with a leap of 6′ 10″, besting the 2nd place finisher by 10 inches. Joel Aduba took 2nd in the 110 hurdles (16.83) and tied for 9th in the long jump (19′ 9″). Peter van Zeijts took 12th in the 1600 (5:03) and Louis Wang took 14th in the 400 (55.69) to close out the top 15 finishes on the boys’ side.

For the girls, Miranda Harrigan ran an impressive double, taking 2nd in the 2000 meter steeplechase (8:04.6) and 5th in the 800 (2:35). Meghan Hutzler took 6th in the 400 (67.32) and Francine Leung nabbed 11th in the triple jump (31′ 0″) despite being the youngest jumper in the field.
