This afternoon, the individual entrants for the Penn Relays were announced and Jyles Etienne was included in the 18-man high jump field. The Bears have entered a 4×400 meter relay team at the carnival in 38 of the past 39 years but have not had an individual qualify for Penns since Laura Whitney took 3rd in the 3000 meters in 1980.
Etienne qualified in a field that includes jumpers from five states and four countries.
The 122nd edition of the Penn Relays will run from April 28-30. This year 22,000 entrants from 60 countries will compete in 425 races over 35 hours of competition in the oldest and largest relays in the world.
