
On this day eight years ago, Amanda Shapiro ’04 placed 6th in the 100 yard breaststroke at the NCAA Division III Swimming Championships.
The former Bear knifed through the water in a time of 1:05.45 to earn All-American honors for the third straight year, having taken 6th in the event in 2006 and 5th in 2007. After closing her senior season with a crescendo, Shapiro was given Wesleyan’s Suki Hoagland Award, presented annually to the outstanding contributor to women’s athletics. Additionally, she won Wesleyan Swimming’s Jones Award, presented to the outstanding contributor on the women’s team.
