
On this day 13 years ago, Caitlin Banks ’00 scored 8 points for the University of Virginia in a 17-10 victory over Richmond.
The former Bear scored the first two goals of the game, in the span of less than a minute, to stake the Cavaliers to a 2-0 lead. Banks’ third goal pushed Virginia’s lead to 6-2 and her first assist of the game gave them an 8-2 edge just before the half. The Spiders would get no closer than five goals the rest of the way.
Banks finished with game-highs in goals (5) and assists (3) to help the Cavaliers improve to 3-1 on the season.
In 2003, Banks finished fourth on the team in scoring with 37 goals and 20 assists and led the team with a 53% shooting percentage. She also earned NCAA All-Tournament honors in leading the ‘Hoos into the National Semifinals.
