On this day 17 years ago, the girls’ swim team beat Deer Park on Homecoming Weekend in historic fashion.

In the 52-36 victory, four school records fell in Swanson Natatorium. New marks were set in the 200 freestyle relay (Kiera McGill, Amanda Shapiro, Lauren Bates, and Ashley Singer), the 200 medley relay (McGill, Shapiro, Caitlyn Kevins, and Bates), the 400 freestyle relay (McGill, Caryn Calisi, Singer, and Bates) and McGill set a new standard in the backstroke with a time of 1:05.58.

The win helped the Bears improve to 2-0 on the way to a team record eight wins that season.
