Today Rod Odom ’09 signed with Virtus Pallacanestro Bologna, a professional basketball team based in Bologna, Italy.

Virtus competes in the Serie A league, Italy’s highest tier of professional basketball. Founded in 1929, Virtus is one of the winningest professional basketball teams in Italian history as their 15 National Championships are second only to Olimpia Milano. Additionally, they have won eight Italian Cups and two Euro League titles.

Over the years they have boasted some of the strongest rosters in European basketball, including NBA veterans Manu Ginobili, Corey Brewer, Bill Wennington, Travis Best, and Earl Boykins.

This year will be Odom’s second in professional basketball. Last season he played with Drama, Greece’s KAOD Basketball Club. Odom was the team’s third-highest scorer at 9.2 points per game, its best rebounder with 5.7 rebounds per game, and was one of its most efficient shooters, connecting at a 48% clip.
