In a sectional qualifying round of the U.S. Amateur Championship, Tyler Abrahamsen ’13 finished in a tie for 4th in a field of 61 golfers.
In the first of two rounds, held at Laurel Links Country Club last Tuesday, Abrahamsen shot a 67 on the par 71 course. An eagle on the par 5 sixth hole, as well as five birdies, helped him set the course record at Laurel Links and lead the tournament after round one.
In the second round, the former Bear recorded two bogeys on the first three holes, but settled down to par the next nine holes and stay at 2-under. He closed with four bogeys on the final six holes, including two double-bogeys, to finish his second round with a 79 and an impressive 4-over for the tournament. He missed the qualifying mark by just a single stroke.
